BDC Officers

President: Iulia-Madalina Streanga

Iulia is a fifth year graduate student in the EAPS department, studying chemical oceanography. Besides ballroom dancing, she is passionate about books, classical movies and traveling. She has been the President of the MIT BDC since fall 2019. She is originally from Romania and started dancing during her undergraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh. For Iulia, dancing is a time of relaxation and self-discovery that she grew to love and to which she dedicates a lot of her free time.

Vice-president: Elizaveta Tremsina

Liza is a fifth year graduate student in EECS, working in the Spin Dynamics Lab in DMSE. She has been dancing since the age of 5, training in classical ballet and Russian folk dance, while also dabbling in modern and contemporary, and recently hip-hop/street styles. She first started taking Ballroom classes in Fall 2019 and is quite passionate about making Standard/Latin lessons accessible to people of different dance backgrounds and college students. Outside MIT, she is part of a modern dance company called 40 Steps Dance, loves taking classes at the Dance Complex, dancing the night away at Havana Club, running by the Charles, travelling and walking the beautiful streets of Boston.

Treasurer: Michael Dotzel

Michael is a fifth year graduate student in the EAPS department, studying physical oceanography. Originally from the Midwest, he discovered ballroom dancing when he arrived at MIT in 2019, and his favorite dance is Pasodoble. Complementing his passion for ballroom dancing are his other hobbies - playing the piano, science communication and disc golf.

Space Coordinator: Attila Forruchi

Attila is a regular presence in the Boston dance scene, having been part of it for many years and having tried different types of dances. He likes organizing events which bring people together to discover ballroom dancing and enjoy themselves while learning new steps.
